Preston Singletary: Echoes, Fire, and Shadows ref : 2348
The Museum of Glass present Preston Singletary’s first mid-career survey, Echoes, Fire, and Shadows, opening July 11, 2009.  Singletary is recognized internationally for his work, which combines two of the Northwest’s most prominent artistic influences—traditional Native American designs and the medium of glass.  For nearly two decades, he has melded the symbols, patterns and legends of his Tlingit heritage with the dynamism of the Studio Glass movement, creating a distinctive and powerful body of work.

Scotland's 400th Anniversary of Glassmaking ref : 2598
An international conference will take place at Edinburgh College of Art from 1st to 4th October 2010. In addition to a wide variety of speakers, there will be three days of demonstrations for specialists and the general public, bringing the magic of glass to everyone. Scottish glassmakers will be showcasing their work to an international audience during this event.

Every museum and gallery in the country had been contacted and they are being encouraged to mount exhibitions of their Scottish glass collections during the year. Several pledges of support have already been made by some of the most important museums in the country.

The International Festival of Glass takes place from 23 August – 11 September, 2010. Glass Masterclasses run from 23 – 26 August, Festival events take place from 27 – 30 August and the British Glass Biennale starts on 27 August and continues until 11 September.
