Have a look at the website of the architect who has created the new bridge in Venice.
Designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, the new bridge across Venice's Grand Canal will be a long, sweeping curve glass and steel. The 300 steps of the bridge are all different. They are made of 4 tempered glass bricks, with serigraphy to be non-skid.

FR - Eloi Monod, founder of the French glassmaking 'La Verrerie de Biot', has just left us.
In 1956, this engineer decided to create 'La Verrerie de Biot' with Luce, his wife. From a glass defect, the bubbles, he created a renowned specialty worldwide appreciated. The bubble glass technique and the use of metallic oxides for the colors quickly made the international reputation of the 'Verrerie de Biot'. The French village Biot, already known for its potters, became the village of the glassmakers.

Arc International Group has concluded the partial sale of the Salviati brand's activities with JL Coquet-Jaune de Chrome, a company led by Christian Le Page, and with Pierre Rohatyn.This transfer includes notably the Murano workshop (VSA), located in Italy.Salvati comprises two main activities, decoration and jewellery.Consequently, the Group has now begun the active transfer of its shops. Based in Limoges, France, JL Coquet-Jaune de Chrome specialises in porcelain and has a staff of 100.

FR - Technical Conferences at the CERFAV
The technical conferences organized by the CERFAV are all in French.
Two conferences are already planned for beginning of 2008 :
- Standards and conception of glass luminary, during week number 6 (exact date to be confirmed : 6, 7 or 8th of February), in Vannes-le-Châtel.
- Understand the restoration of stained glass windows, the 17th of March 2008, in Paris (to be confirmed).

US - NY State-Artist-in-Residence Program at the Corning museum
The studio of glass museum in Corning proposes an Artist-in-residence program with the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
Artists will spend one month at the Studio in Corning and two to six months in Kohler Co.'s foundry (casting iron or brass) or pottery (slip casting clay) in Sheboygan, WI.
Travel, accommodations, supplies, equipment, technical assistance, and a food stipend are all provided.
The deadline for applications is April 1, 2008, for 2009 residencies.
