Conferences : Glass, functional material for the future
Based in Lorraine at the heart of the glass and crystal industry, the “Pole Verrier” along with the network of university glass research laboratories, Revelor, in addressing the issue of glass' function, hope to raise the question of the "intelligence of the material" in the automotive and building sectors. Today a glass surface, no longer simply a means of letting in natural light, is endowed with other qualities which are shaping our environment. While some products are already on the market, many others are still in the research stage. This is why we invite you -- researchers, business people, teachers, students -- to share your knowledge, your unique points of view, your experiences, and your questions as well during this glass conference.

Gail Crosman Moore's borosilicate beads of nature
Kervin, James, Self Published, 2006-06-15
In this, the eleventh booklet of this series, we work with the nationally known bead artist, Gail Crosman Moore, to learn some of the techniques that she uses in making her beads. Many of the shapes and color schemes that she uses in her work are inspired by nature. In this booklet we also provide an introduction into the use of colored borosilicate glass. See how its properties differ from the soda-lime glass colors which most beadmakers use. Gain an appreciation for the rich earth tones that they provide.
