The first contact between the signatories of the VITRA project took place in France in January 2006.
During this first seminar of work, the European partners agreed on the broad outline of the project and the techniques representative of each country. 12 techniques were thus retained:

Cerfav presents : pâte de verre, grisaille (painting on glass for stained glass), glass beads.
Secondary Technical Glass from Novy Bor : traditional high enamelling, engraving with stone wheel and czech blowing.
Naturally the Venetian school, Abate Zanetti, concentrates on the techniques of hot decoration: Venetian goblets with reticello, hot sculpture and finally, incalmo.
The Swedes intervene on the techniques of graal, decoration by bullage (Ariel) and of moulage/coulage to sand (sandcasting).

Between March and July 2006, 11 of these European techniques were shooted in CERFAV.

Shootings began in March 2006. The first partners to come were the Italians of the School of Abate Zanetti: Dino Rosin and his son, Diego. They presented a beautiful Italian technique : the hot sculpture. The objective: creation of a woman’s torso. During four days, the video team will shoot and pick up all the sequences which will serve to elaboration of pedagogical films.

At the end of March, the team came again with the shooting of a French technique: the pâte de verre, with Olivier Léonard, the decoration glass CERFAV workshop’s responsable.

Shootings go again at the beginning of May. It was a period of intense activity. Indeed, Livio Serena de Murano came to ensure the techniques of the venitian goblet with reticello and the incalmo.

And he was immediately followed by three artists of Sweden, selected by the university of Kalmar : Wilke Adolfsson, Micke Johansson and Astrid Gate, who represented the techniques of the graal and the ariel.

CERFAV wished to make meet Italian and Swedish for exchanges between each others and the students of the CERFAV. These weeks were particularly original. Indeed, after the shooting, Livio taught at the CERFAV, while the Swedish were shooting their techniques. Then, the Swedish artists taught to the students of the CERFAV.

These weeks of training were organized in the spirit of the VITRA’s project :  try out the courses which will be proposed by Internet and  begin the European sharing from the techniques.

Our czech partners came to France on end of June for the shooting of their three techniques :  blowing with Czecc specific manner, engraving (stone wheel), High enamel.

Then, the last but not the least, we shooted the glass beads technique, with Emmanuel Sztuka, french artist, in the middle of july.

A second seminar took place last November at Murano, Italy, thanks to the school Abate Zanetti. Two films were assembled by the video team and were presented : pâte de verre and Venetian glass with reticello. The level of detail is very recorded. The two films are more than forty minutes each one!
While the video team continues to assemble the rush filmed at the CERFAV, the pedagogical staff considers the documentation which will accompany the vidéos : explanatory cards, history of the technique, photographies' gallery, bibliography, webography and especially the comments which will be synchronized with film, in order to clarify what images can not tell.

During the seminar, a pattern of the future site was presented at the partners. A graphic designer will work now there. Lastly, the access to information of the site - free or restricted - could not be stopped. The debates on this subject will go again on next seminar, which will take place at the end of January, in Czech republic.

Another seminar was programmed in April, in Sweden.

A symposium celebrating the website's putting on line will take place in France in September 2007. It will be the occasion to meet all the glass Masters who took part in the project and to attend demonstrations of work of glass. Many other festivities are envisaged like an auction sale of student's creations. The program of this symposium will be stopped in february. We will keep you informed via this site.
