VITRA, like virtual training
The VITRA project aims to create a Virtual Training Centre for glass techniques.
A European project
The project is co-financed by the European Union within the SOCRATES-LEONARDO DA VINCI programme. It started in October 2005 and will end in September 2007. SOCRATES-LEONARDO DA VINCI recognized the need for international exchanges between artisans, artists and students. In the history of glass making, a a lot of expertise and know-how have disappeared as it has not been transfered to next geneartions in time.
A virtual glass school
The VITRA virtual centre will present - in the form of e-learning courses - twelve traditional and high quality glass techniques stemming from four European countries. Each technique will be demonstrated by didactical videos, supporting documents synchronised with the video and freely consultable accompanying documents.
Five partners
The project partners are: Scuola del vetro Abate Zanetti (Italy), Vidéoscop-Université Nancy 2 and CERFAV (France), the Novy Bor Glass school (Czech Republic) and the Pukeberg School of Design, Kalmar University (Sweden).
12 traditionnal and high quality techniques
The objectives:
- sharing of specific know-how of the partner countries
- set up of an autonomous formation's space
- promotion of the use of new technologies
The target groups:
The VITRA virtual centre is aimed at craftsmen, training centres, artists and designers.
