Symposium :

Meeting point of european schools in glass arts, artists and craftmen
SYMPOSIUM 07

Dear All,

On their first meeting in Talinn in April 2006, which was initiated by Mare Saare, several schools in Glass Art and Design were highly interested in meeting once a year in Europe. Therefore, it was an honour and a pleasure for me to propose the organisation of a second meeting in Vannes-le-Châtel and in Nancy (France) with the CERFAV and four  trustworthy partners such as:

-       School Abate Zanetti Murano (Italy)

-       School of Novybor (Czech Republic)

-       School of Design at University of Kalmar - Pukeberg (Sweden)

-       Videoscop (University of Nancy 2).

The official presentation of the VITRA Project (Virtual Training in Glass Arts) is the main theme of the Symposium holding from the 24th to the 28th September 2007.

This virtual tool issued with particular attention to help European glass training centres and glass specialists will contribute to equip us with a same range of skills in glass making. VITRA will become the indispensable asset to favour creativity and glass training in Europe and help developing exchanges and mobility of glass workers throughout the European continent.

The Symposium will give VITRA Members the opportunity to consider extending the VITRA Programme to glass European Schools interested in sharing their own skills the way we initiated the concept.

In a larger extent, the Symposium could inaugurate the creation of a European partner network that would qualify for Brussels recognition and pioneer actions, cooperation projects and European exchange programmes.

I am looking forward to your participation and to meeting you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Denis Garcia
CERFAV Director
